Adrenaline, or epinephrine, or steroid, is a stress hormone that modulates electrical signals between a neuron and another cell. An adrenaline rush is a rapid release of adrenaline from the adrenal glands in threatening or exciting circumstances. In the presence of excitements or threats, the autonomic nervous system signals to the adrenal gland that it is time to release adrenaline. Adrenaline then increases heart rate and respiration and prepares the body to fight, flight or engage.
