When people fall in love, the brains' levels of the reward hormone adrenaline increase, creating a feeling of ecstasy. The brain also signs to the adrenal glands that something exciting is going on. This makes the adrenal glands pump a surge of adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstream. Via the bloodstream, adrenaline increases heart and breathing rates, and noradrenaline produces body heat, making people sweat. Falling in love can make people feel euphoric but it also creates a bodily state of anxiety.
